If you’ve read some of the excellent posts from the likes of @submissive-seeking, @instructor144, @danipup, @cherished-property, or the other respected bloggers of Tumblr’s BDSM community, then you’ve seen the admonitions many a time: Dominance and submission are not just about kinky sex; first and foremost, they’re about living, breathing relationships. In fact, a successful D/s relationship need not even include sex at all.
So why do we reblog so damned much porn?
I’ve never told someone that I come to Tumblr for the porn. I say that I come to learn from the knowledge and experience of others, to share my writing with the community, and for inspiration. This is no lie. But scroll through my blog and you’ll see a plethora of porn gifs and photos. Where’s the knowledge, wisdom, and inspiration in that?
Much of the porn I reblog is eye candy. I thought it was hot and expected that my followers would as well. I watch the gif a time or two, hit the reblog button, and probably never look at it again.
But occasionally, something great surfaces. Something inspiring.
That’s perhaps a pretentious word for it. I’ve never seen a porn clip that moved me to poetry or brought a tear to my eye. But I have seen some that struck a nerve.
Perfect submission. Bound and blindfolded and leashed at His feet. All she needs is his touch, to know He’s near, that He’s in control. Then everything else fades away. She’s content in her bondage, happy to be owned by Him.
Letting go and taking the pain for Him. She’s given over to His will, even if that means suffering. Her purpose is whatever He says it is. Her happiness is in serving Him.
Used for His pleasure, all other thoughts disappear.
We often shroud BDSM is darkness. But this is everyday BDSM. The joy, the laughter, the love of Dominance and submission flowing through their every touch.
Porn can be fun. It can be a turn on, a distraction, a source of ideas for future play. But my favorite reason for browsing these sexy images is to be reminded, just once in a while, of what submission and Dominance can look like. Because that’s why I’m here. That’s what I love.
